Need help flying with my Mini 4 Pro… what should I know before flying to Spain?

Hey everyone! I’m heading to Menorca, Spain in about a month and a half and I’m trying to figure out what I need to do with my drone before the trip. I’ve got a Mini 4 Pro, RC2, and 3 Intelligent Flight Batteries, flying from the UK. I’m not sure about stuff like battery rules, licensing, or if there are any customs fees. I know I could look it all up, but it’s kind of a mix of random questions and I thought maybe someone here has already gone through it. Thanks in advance!

You’ll need the EU version of the UK Operator ID and Flyer ID. You can get those on the AlphaTango site:

https://alphatango.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/login.jsp

Just scroll down, change the language to English, then create an account and log in.

After that, get your Operator ID and take the A1/A3 online training and test—it’s all free and they email the docs to you right away. It works across all EU countries. Just don’t forget: drone insurance is mandatory over there too.

Discharge your batteries (and the controller too)—I read somewhere they should be below 30% to avoid swelling or battery issues.

I also pulled the batteries out of the charging hub and just had them loose in my bag.

Label everything clearly just in case.

I flew from Dublin to Malta with my drone and GoPro in my carry-on backpack. No issues at all—they didn’t even stop me, just went through x-ray fine both ways.
