Hey, I need some help with my audio setup. I want one mic on the talent linked to the receiver connected to my camera, but the other mic should be somewhere else recording internally. I don’t want both mics recorded to my camera, just one.
Is this possible?
I have the DJI Mic Mini and can do something similar with some editing after recording.
I set the receiver so one mic goes to the left channel and the other to the right. Then after recording, I use Audacity to pan the left channel fully left and duplicate that track, swapping channels and panning fully right. Mixing those together gives me just the audio from mic 1 on both sides, which I can then replace in my video.
Usually I put one mic on the host and one on the performer to get both parts clearly. Editing is needed because otherwise you get all the backstage chatter too.
I know Mic 2 has a monitor output, but I’m not sure if you can send just one mic there.
The Mic Mini doesn’t have internal recording though. I have the Mic 1, and I think what you want should be doable if you buy an extra transmitter (if you only got the single unit).
If there’s a way to link them, maybe there’s a way to unlink? I’m not sure. I can do what I want by just taking one transmitter and leaving the rest in the case, without a receiver.
