Never owned a drone but want to get started

Hey everyone, I’ve never owned a drone before but recently started watching footage from DJI drones and now I’m obsessed with the 4K quality.

I’m looking to buy my first drone and want something that can do 4K at 30 or 60fps. So far I’ve been eyeing these two:

  • DJI Mini 4K – $499
  • DJI Mini 3 – $599

The Mini 3 looks like the better deal with more features, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the extra $100. Since this would be my first drone, I’d love some advice on what to look for. Any recommendations or things to consider before buying?

Thanks!

Flight-wise, they’re almost identical.

The Mini 3 has a better camera, which makes a difference if you’re not just sharing short clips on social media.

If your budget allows, check out the Mini 4 Pro. It adds obstacle avoidance, which the Mini 4K and Mini 3 don’t have, and that’s a great feature for beginners.

@Bliss
It wouldn’t be for social media. I’m thinking of filming for YouTube, so 4K quality is important. I’ll look into the Mini 4 Pro too. Appreciate it!

Have you looked into the Flip? It’s actually a really nice drone too.

Nope, hadn’t heard of it yet. I’ll add it to the list and check it out. Thanks for the tip!

If you’ve got a little more wiggle room in your budget, the Mavic 3 Classic is awesome. It even has adjustable aperture, so you won’t need ND filters for taking photos.

Best advice? Get the Fly More Combo version of whichever drone you choose. You’ll really want the extra batteries and the carry case. Way better value than buying everything separate.

Just my two cents… go for the Fly More Combo and the controller with a built-in screen. I love flying, but I hate fiddling around with my phone every time.
