Panorama mode or wide angle lens?

Which of the two do you prefer?

You would rather use a horizontal 16:9 photo or a panoramic mode photo to get a far better look, in my opinion; wide-angled photos can easily spoil the impression of space and size.

I have a lot of problems with panoramas: you can’t frame the shot or see roughly what the composition will be until you get home; my program doesn’t stitch raw files, so instead of stitching the entire image after I’ve seen it; frequently, the panoramas just don’t stitch together perfectly (some elements don’t line up or have parallax issues); you end up not shooting wide enough on the middle of each edge to deal with distortion properly; you have to turn off autofocus because it will mess with everything; if you start to get too many frames in your pano, processing will take a long time AND
