Pulled my old DJI Mavic Pro out… now the batteries won’t charge!

Need advice: I bought a DJI Mavic Pro back in early 2017 when 4K video was just taking off. Only flew it about a dozen times before putting it away. Now that I’m retired, I figured I’d start flying again, but all my battery packs refuse to charge. I looked up battery revival methods, but I’m not much of a DIYer.

  • Is there a simple way to reset these batteries after sitting so long?
  • Can they be revived without tearing them apart?
  • Or should I just accept my wife’s ‘I told you so’ and move on? :sob:
  • Would it be better to sell it on Facebook Marketplace?

A local drone shop in Atlanta said they don’t do battery repairs. I still have an iPhone with a lightning port, so the app should still work.

Why does DJI make this so hard? :man_facepalming:

Unfortunately, those batteries are likely toast. They’ve been sitting discharged for too long.

OP, let us know if you find a way to revive them! I’ve heard DJI batteries can go bad in just a few months without charging, so this sounds about right.

Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. And new ones are still going for around $120!!

@AvaAeroWhisper
It is possible to save the batteries

But It is a process

I bought my Mavic Pro in early 2018 and still use it! If you decide to sell any accessories or parts, let me know. It’s getting harder to find replacement parts from reputable sources. I know it’s an older drone, but it was my first and I want to keep it going as long as possible. Hope you get yours back in the air!

I’ve got a Mavic Pro Platinum sitting at work and was hoping to revive it too. Found this YouTube video that might help. Haven’t tried it yet, but maybe it’s worth a shot?

Yet another reminder to go charge my original Pro before it’s too late…

Yeahhh… you’re probably out of luck, my guy.

I used to fly my Spark regularly, and my batteries have gone months without charging. Even when they drop to one flashing dot, they still recover fine. Charge cycling really makes a difference.

Edit: My Phantom 3 Standard batteries also seem to hold up the same way. DJI’s battery tech is actually solid!

If you can get it running, it’ll still shoot great video!

Too hot for flying now. This Sunday is my last drone day until fall.

Check out a battery store or Batteries+. You can also find some cheap refurbished ones on Amazon.

I’ve got a Mavic Pro with 4 batteries that I bought used about 5-6 years ago. I kept them well-maintained, but two have started swelling. Down to two working ones now, but the drone still flies great. Thinking about getting a couple of OEM replacements unless someone has good experience with aftermarket ones?

OP, you might be able to recover them with just one small electronic component and some jumper cables. Worth trying!

Just throw it my way for disposal! :joy:

But seriously, seems like a common issue, and new batteries might be the best route.

Yeah, I saw that. My biggest worry is spending money on gear and then still having it not work. Some Windows 11 PCs don’t even recognize the CP2112.

Here’s a hint: it works on all my systems, including virtual machines, whether they run Windows 7, 10, or 11.

There’s actually a common driver issue that conflicts with the CP2112.

I won’t go into details here since I offer battery repair services, but DM me if you want more info.

Saw one for $1.25 on eBay recently. Might be worth keeping an eye out for deals—these pop up sometimes.
