Questions about flying in restricted areas

I’ve never flown a drone before, but I’m planning on buying an Avata 2. Unfortunately, I live in a restricted area, and I saw online that drones won’t even let you take off in those zones. Apparently, you can unlock the area somehow, but I didn’t quite understand how that works. Is it even possible to fly in these zones? I live within 6 km of a military airport, and there’s no unrestricted area close enough for what I plan to do.

This really depends on your country’s laws.

Which country are you in?

I’m in Italy.

Are you talking about a restricted area on the DJI app or on ENAC (Italian aviation charts)? I’m new to drones, but I live in Verona, and even though it’s a restricted area on the ENAC charts, it’s not restricted on the DJI app, and I’ve been able to take off. I haven’t tried taking off in a DJI-restricted zone, though.

I’ve never flown a drone before, so I’m not sure what the DJI app says. But on the D-Flight web app, it says, ‘UAS operations of the Open category are prohibited within the geographical area.’

Do you live near Aviano?

I live near Viterbo.
