Trying to decide which controller to buy, RC2 or RCN2. I’m mostly interested in any special cinematic moves the RC2 can do that the RCN2 cannot. This is the only thing holding me up from making a decision. Any insights?
The built-in screen is a game changer. I can’t imagine going back to using my phone. Totally worth it.

You could just get a regular controller, buy an iPad adapter, and use an iPad. It’s a bit clunky, but great for long flying sessions.
@Kale
I’m too old for that hassle. I only use my drone for weddings, so simpler is better.

What’s so great about it?

It’s just easier. No need to set up your phone or worry about connections. Turn on the controller, turn on the drone, and you’re flying.
@Breck
Using a phone can be risky. I had a Pixel 8 overheat and crash the app mid-flight. Super scary moment.

The battery lasts forever, bigger screen, and no need to mess with your phone lagging.

The screen stays bright even in the sun. So helpful.
@Nikon101
Oh right, forgot about the overheating phones.
I saw a video that said it’s tough to zoom and tilt the gimbal at the same time with a regular controller. Not enough scroll wheels.
RC2 is the way to go. It’s not perfect, but having the built-in screen makes a huge difference. If you want the best, get the best.
Go with the one that has the screen. The hassle of connecting a phone isn’t worth it if you fly a lot.
I’ve used both, and the smart controller makes flying so much easier and more fun. If you plan on flying regularly, get the smart one.
Nope.
Maybe the button layout is better for cruise control? But that’s about it.
Just remember, if you need to use third-party apps like Dronelink, you’ll need your phone because you can’t install apps on the RC2.

Yeah, or Litchi. And if you’re not using DJI Goggles 3, you’re missing out. They can wirelessly connect to an iPad or phone for others to watch too.
Cinematic moves are mostly about using waypoints. It’s all about making things easier.
Get the screen controller, and you’ll never want to go back to using a phone. I’m in the air in 90 seconds, super fast and easy.
