Red Cat, a drone company from Salt Lake City, just beat Skydio for the U.S. Army’s drone contract. Their Black Widow drone comes with a FLIR sensor, forward obstacle avoidance, weighs 3.6 lbs, flies up to 23 mph, and has a 35-minute flight time. Romeo Durscher shared his thoughts on this shift, saying it might bring big changes for Skydio. Thoughts?
Maybe the Army didn’t feel like spending $25k per drone. Makes sense to me.
Skydio lost… good riddance.
Romeo Durscher highlighted this change, saying: ‘Congrats to Red Cat for winning the Program of Record contract. Skydio losing wasn’t surprising. Maybe this signals a big shift for them?’

I’m glad Romeo is getting recognized in the drone space. He’s one of the hardest-working people I’ve had the pleasure of working with. Skydio’s attitude has been a problem for years.
@Tatum
Okay, calm down and wipe your chin.

Listen, as someone who worked with him and knows about his recent health struggles, back off. Romeo’s helped save lives during the Syrian refugee crisis with donated IR gear. He’s one of the good guys.
Screw Skydio.

Agreed. Skydio can shove it.
This is huge for Red Cat. By the way, their stock ($RCAT) is publicly traded and undervalued. If valued like Skydio, it would be worth double right now.
This is hilarious!
This news just made my week.
Why don’t more U.S. drone companies sell affordable drones to regular people?

Red Cat owns Rotor Riot and Fatshark. They sell drones and goggles for hobbyists.
Skydio’s loss is hilarious!
When Skydio loses, we all win.
Skydio had this coming. They didn’t innovate, wasted money on lobbying, and ignored consumer feedback. Now they’ve been outdone by cheaper and better products. You reap what you sow, Skydio.
Red Cat stock is at $7.55 right now. Just putting it out there.
How did Skydio mess this up with all the resources they’ve been throwing at it?

The Army doesn’t just hand out contracts because of lobbying.
