Reused parts from my broken Mini 2 in a frame

I took a broken Mini 2 drone and turned it into a framed display. It’s a fun way to reuse the parts and give them a new purpose.

Looks great!

I’ve always wanted to do something like this, maybe encased in clear resin for a desk display. Hopefully, I’ll find time someday.

That’s pretty cool.

Awesome idea! I might do the same with an old Mavic Pro one of my users turned into a submarine. :sweat_smile:

This reminds me of the displays from Grid Studio: https://gridstudio.cc

Very creative. Plus, it doubles as a convenient spot to keep spare parts.

You should print and frame the flight logs too!

You should’ve gotten DJI Care.

This was a second-hand drone from a guy on FB Marketplace who was about to throw it away. I usually fix drones, but this one wasn’t worth it. I could have sold the parts, but making this display was way more fun!

@Ben
Imagine someone finding this in 350 years and thinking, ‘Was this technology so obsolete that they framed it?! What secrets are we missing?’

@Ben
I’m totally going to do something similar with my old broken parts—maybe an exploded view or something!

It’s actually ‘should have’ or ‘should’ve.’

If only you posted this last week! My Mini 2 teardown project didn’t go well.

That’s cool!

It’s like mounting insects, but for drones! :smile:

Nice! What’s an ESC board?

It’s an Electronic Speed Controller. It converts speed commands from the main board into actual power for the motors.

This reminds me of those framed butterflies my uncle had when I was a kid. :joy:

This is really cool, especially with the labels.
