Sharper image mach x video drone review

I’m somewhat of a novice drone pilot, having flown a few of the low end walmart models, in addition to a couple flights on a friend’s Mavic. That being said, this uav is utter garbage…Designed for intermediate skill level pilots, there were issues right out of the box with this hunk of crap…the streaming app, “360 Mach Flight” does NOT work with any newer phones, nor does the app from the company work at all. It took me downloading a Chinese copy of the app, “360MACHFLIGHT” and using a Samsung tablet from 2015 to see any video. The box advertises "stable hover control " and a “quick flight button”…you end up with a drone that refuses to get any more than a foot of airspace under it, and it will consistently try to move away from you, regardless of how you attempt to trim the rotors. In 6 hours of 7 minute flights and 1.66 hr charge sequences, I managed to get only 20 foot of air under it, and couldn’t get any video or still photos as the second I took my hand off of the controls to push the record or shutter button, the drone would manage to either crash land, or would be headed out of range. I get this is a kids toy, but come on…if a grown man can’t fly it, how is a kid going to? Not to mention that plastered over every available surface was a message demanding that you contact dxdronecenter.com instead of returning this crap to the store. Oh, I feel I should mention that other than on the packaging, Sharper Image is nowhere to be seen. The app is put out by one company, JoyHonest. The website is nothing more than a jazzed up WordPress blog, has little to no actual resources to help you, and is ran by " Merchsource, LLC ", which is evidently the parent company for Sharper Image…out of a possible 5 stars, I’d give this POS a single half star, since it did include extra rotor blades as well as screws for the bladed. Throw your money in a fire and you’ll have more fun than you will with this junk.

Man, that sounds like a frustrating experience. I totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve had my fair share of disappointments with drones too. It’s such a letdown when you’re excited to take to the skies and then bam, you’re dealing with a hot mess of a UAV.

I remember one time I picked up this budget drone from a local store, thinking it would be a fun way to spend an afternoon. But boy, was I wrong. Just like you described, it had all these promises plastered on the box, but when it came down to it, it couldn’t even hover steadily, let alone capture decent footage.

The struggle with the app compatibility is all too real too. It’s frustrating when you’re trying to connect your drone to your phone and nothing seems to work. I had to jump through hoops just to get it to kind of, sort of, function.

And don’t even get me started on the customer support runaround. It’s like they expect you to do all the troubleshooting yourself instead of just owning up to the fact that they sold you a lemon.

The included app (‘360 Mach Flight’) doesn’t work with newer phones, and the company’s app seems to have functionality issues.

I eventually managed to connect with an older device, but…

I know there are some great online communities and forums dedicated to drones.

They might have troubleshooting tips or recommendations for similar models that are known for user-friendliness.
