Is it worth getting the Pro 4 over the Pro 3 for a first-time drone user?
I just turn on the controller, power up the drone, and wait a bit for the GPS. No messing with my phone or draining its battery. It’s way better when you need to get flying quickly for a shot. Sure, the price difference is something to think about, but if you can swing it, it’s worth it. Plus, your phone heats up when you use it like this, and that’s not good.

If you’re new to drones, get the one with more obstacle sensors.
At work, we use Mavic 3 for training. We used to use Air 2 and now switched to Mini 4 Pro for new pilots. Newbies tend to push the joysticks too far when they just want to move a little. They would always hit the roof of our hangar (about 6 meters high) with the Air 2, but not anymore with the Mini 4 Pro. The Mini 4 Pro can’t handle the wind like the Mavic 3, but once you get to flying the Mavic 3 for a while (over 500 hours), then you can fly drones with fewer sensors.

If it’s just the regular Mini 3 and not the Pro, maybe look at the Mini 4k. Neither has obstacle avoidance, and they share the same 4k camera (though the Mini 4k can’t shoot vertical for social media). The Mini 4k is cheaper too.
It’s a good starter drone, and you can upgrade to the Mini 4 Pro later when you get hooked, which you probably will because flying is awesome.

The Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro have the same camera. The Mini 4k has a smaller sensor, smaller aperture, and a less flexible gimbal.

As a hobbyist, you might not want to get the Fly More Combo, because you’d have to register the drone and keep it that way. You’ll also need to take the TRUST test if you use the heavier batteries, since they make the drone too heavy to fly without registration.

Wrong. The Fly More Combo doesn’t change the weight. It just gives you extra batteries, a charger, and a bag.

Oh, my bad. But yeah, the plus batteries are heavier and do require registration.
