Now I was just looking at facebook marketplace and saw this guy list his Mini 3 Pro fly more combo for $450 but he says he will go down to $400(Thinking i might be able to get him down to $350)
Now one issue, the gimbal is completely ripped out and done for after a crash. Everything else looks good and he sent controller errors list and it only said gimbal stuck(of course) accept some cracks here and there and surprisingly the camera is still giving a feed too.
So do you guys think it’s getting this for $350, buying a new gimbal+ camera for $100 off ebay and repairing it? (I’m not a noob in repairing drones, have built FPV drones and fixed a mini before) Thank y’all.
I crashed my Air 2s. Totally my fault, and I had no coverage. I sent it to DJI, and they charged me $68 for an hour of labor and sent me a brand new drone. The whole thing only took about four days!

No proof of purchase was needed either. I got mine second-hand.

I had a similar experience with my DJI 4 pro, except I didn’t pay a dime. They just sent me a new one, and I didn’t even cover shipping. I sent it from Sweden to Hungary, and then I just got a brand new unit.

I just got quoted $183 for my Mini 2—it has an out-of-focus gimbal that focuses too close (they’re saying it needs a full camera replacement). Since the body has a tiny crack, they recommend replacing that too. I’m really considering the DIY route, lol.
@Quinlan
Yeah, selling it as is and then getting a new drone sounds smart. I might still try the DIY route, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll just sell the new gimbal and camera I bought along with the drone, then get a new one from eBay.
I got it down to $300—maybe it’s a steal now, lol.
$300 is a good price. That’s worth your time.
But make sure it’s in person; no shipping over Facebook Marketplace, or you risk getting a fake. But $300 doesn’t sound unbelievable, so I’m not saying it’s a scam.

Yeah, their repair prices are quite fair. I didn’t even extend my Care Refresh on my Avata1 because of this. I did the math, and it would only make sense if I crashed 2-3 a year, lol.
Plus, there’s still a $70 deductible on top of the Care Refresh plan cost.

Cameras are WAY more expensive and would run about $300 for this situation.

My camera was fine, but the gimbal was messed up.
I’ve dealt with over 100 cases at DJI, and usually if cameras get damaged on these mini drones, they total the whole drone out. And it’s not worth paying their repair fees.
That quote around $300 could effectively mean totaling it out.
For larger drones, they usually just quote for the gimbal, which can be much cheaper.
But on minis, any gimbal damage ends up being quoted as a full system replacement, which is $250 plus labor.
If you buy it, make sure the seller unbinds it before shipping it to you.
I crashed my classic Mini2 into something, and the gimbal looked undamaged, plus I could see video in the DJI Fly app—but it was throwing gimbal control errors. I tried DIY repairs with no luck.
I sent it to DJI for a free quote, and they told me I needed to replace two PCBs and some plastic body panels. The total was about $160. So, just because you see video and the gimbal looks fine doesn’t mean there aren’t PCB problems from the crash that the seller might have caused.
As long as the seller unbinds the drone from their DJI account, and you’re fine with paying up to $300 for DJI repair, then it should be safe to buy this damaged drone.
@Thorn
Alright, thanks for the tips. I’ve seen mixed reviews online, and I was curious if a mismatched serial number between the camera and drone would cause issues. Like, would it stop the drone from taking off?
@Aubrey
Nope. When they returned my classic Mini2, it was a factory refurbished model from China. I received it a few days after authorizing my credit card for the repair.
When I bound the refurbished drone to my RCN1 controller, it worked perfectly.
Just ensure the seller unbinds the drone from his/her DJI account.
You can also ask DJI Support about this and they can guide you on what to request from the seller. This step is really important. I’ve seen some posts where users bought used DJI drones still linked to the seller’s DJI account, and they were not happy at all.
