Should I stick with this setup or change a few things?

Hey everyone, here’s the shopping list for the quadcopter I’m planning to get. I’m selling my DJI FPV, so this will be my first setup outside of that. Check out the picture I attached and let me know, should I keep everything as is or make changes?

Specifically, I’d love advice on batteries, chargers, and anything else I might be missing. Thanks in advance!

Wait, did you mean you’re selling your FPV drone?

About your list: first, get extra props—different kinds, too, so you can test them out. Second, I think those goggles might only be for analog video, not Walksnail digital, so double-check compatibility.

Also, about the batteries, try to find alternatives that are in stock; you don’t want to be stuck waiting forever. And the parallel charging board you mentioned isn’t actually a charger—it’s just an accessory. You’ll need a proper charger to use it.

EDIT: Actually, the goggles should work with Walksnail, but it’s worth confirming to be sure. Let us know what you decide!

@Whit
Yeah, I’m selling my DJI FPV. I know how to fly, but I’m trying to figure out the next step since DJI is all bind-and-fly.

So, I’ll grab some extra props to test out, look for different batteries while these are out of stock, and definitely get a proper charger. About the goggles, I’ll do more research. I saw Joshua Bardwell mention they’re HD and should work, but I’ll confirm.

@Luca
Got it. Just know if you go with Walksnail, you’re committing to that system. Didn’t your DJI drone come with goggles, though? Wouldn’t it be cheaper to get a Caddx or Runcam air unit for those instead of buying new goggles?

The image quality might not be as sharp, but it’s good enough, and you’d save some cash. The only downside is that setting up the full OSD might require some tinkering with WTFOS, which doesn’t always work smoothly.

@Whit
I’m selling the goggles along with the DJI FPV, so I’ll need a new pair either way.

Go for it, you’ll love it!

Have you looked at Caddx goggles as an alternative?

Are they better than Fat Sharks?

Just check them out. They might surprise you.

Will do. Thanks for the tip!

The list looks solid, but I can’t see a charger on there. I’d suggest getting a cheaper controller and using the savings for better goggles. The Recon goggles are decent, but there are better options.

I was considering the Dominator goggles, but my budget is capped at $900. And yeah, I just realized I’ll need an actual charger instead of just the parallel board. Thanks for pointing that out.

Absolutely! Walksnail is a great choice—you’ll love it!

Does anyone know if the Walksnail VTX uses the same amount of power as the DJI O3?

On Bardwell’s livestream last week, someone mentioned issues with an Xilo flight controller dying when paired with the O3. It seems to be a problem with the voltage regulator on that FC. If Walksnail pulls similar current, it might cause similar problems over time. That said, people who had failures got free replacements, so you might not be out of pocket if it happens.

I can’t see everything in your list, so here are a few things to consider:

  • You’ll need a receiver. Look for an ELRS receiver and make sure it matches your transmitter.
  • A smoke stopper like the Vifly Smoke Stopper 2 can be handy. It’s not foolproof, but it can save you from frying things.
  • I don’t think the Boxer comes with batteries, so grab a set of those, too.

Go for it and share updates when it’s all set up!
