Skyhawk Drone... legit for $99 or just hype?

So I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about this Skyhawk Drone. It’s super affordable at $99, has 4K cameras, foldable design, and a bunch of features like follow-me mode and obstacle avoidance. It’s even got a 15-minute flight time and 4.99-star ratings, which sounds almost too good to be true. Is this really the best low-cost drone out there, or is it just overhyped? Anyone tried it yet?

I’ve been looking into this too! The specs sound amazing, but does the camera actually live up to the 4K hype?

From what I’ve read, it’s legit 4K, but it’s probably best in good lighting. Have you used any budget drones before?

Wait, is it real 4K or one of those ‘upscaled’ 4Ks? That happens a lot with cheaper drones.

Good question! It says 4K with 120fps video recording, so I’d guess it’s decent, but IDK about professional-grade quality.

That 15-minute flight time feels a little short, especially if you’re trying to film something longer. Does it have swappable batteries?

Yeah, it does. You can swap batteries, and they charge in about an hour. Might need extras for longer sessions though.

Cool, good to know! I hate waiting forever for batteries to charge. Are extras expensive?

Not sure, but since it’s budget-friendly, I’d guess the extras won’t break the bank.

I heard it has follow-me mode. How well does that work on a drone this cheap?

Follow-me mode works surprisingly well! Just don’t expect it to perform perfectly in crowded areas or bad weather.

That’s fair. I’d probably just use it for hiking or something simple. Does it avoid trees and stuff?

Yep, it’s got obstacle avoidance tech, but again, probably not as advanced as the higher-end drones.

IDK about the GPS. How reliable is it? I’d hate for it to fly off and disappear. :joy:

It’s got GPS return-to-home, so if the battery gets low or it loses signal, it comes back. Pretty solid for the price.

Good to know! I’m always paranoid about losing drones. Have you tried it near water?

Not yet, but I’ve seen videos of people using it over lakes. The GPS seems to handle it fine.

Does the app work well? I’ve had drones before where the app was super glitchy and made flying a nightmare.

The app is decent! It’s pretty simple to use and connects well with both iOS and Android. Haven’t had any crashes yet.

Nice! Does it have real-time video feed or is there a lag?
