That picture cost a lot… What happened?

I was in Cabo, took my drone out, but my phone overheated and I lost connection. Now it’s nowhere to be found

It’s such a bummer to lose a drone. Even worse if those batteries are out in the ocean. That’s rough.

Yeah, it’s pretty upsetting to leave trash in such a beautiful place.

@Wolf
With all the divers and snorkelers around, I wouldn’t be shocked if someone finds it.

It’s in a really busy area with lots of boat traffic, so I doubt anyone will see it.

Yeah, just thought about that

Don’t stress too much! Remember that two ships collided a week ago and dumped tons of jet fuel and cargo into the ocean, and it barely made the news. Your drone is unfortunate but DJI might be able to help you out! Send in your flight logs; it could cost less than you think. Good thing you got a picture, unless it landed in the ocean and that was your last one!

@Dana
Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll look into that, or maybe I’ll just upgrade anyway.

Are you thinking about the Mavic 4? I have the Air 3s, which is great. I’d love to have some electric ND filters and one more lens. But I’m unsure if it’ll be worth double or more compared to the Air 3s, but we’ll see. It would definitely be great for some professional jobs. If you do get it, let me know what you think.

@Dana
Are you asking for my thoughts on it? If yes, I don’t have a clue, sorry! I’m really just interested in the minis since I prefer something small without needing a license. I’m sure there are others who can offer advice.

@Dana
I’m torn between the Mavic 3 Pro and Air 3s. I really like both, but I think I might just go for the Air 3s since I have the goggles 3.

That’s so frustrating. As a diver, I’d remove it if it was shallow and safe.

Oh no, that’s really unfortunate! I’m sorry to hear about it. I know this might not help, but I always set my Mavic Pro 3 to return home at a safe height if it loses connection or is low on power before launching. I also update the Return To Home Point to my controller location for better flight time. I usually come back with 15-20% charge unless it’s windy. If you walk 1 km against the wind, the drone might end up trying to fight that wind on its way back, which could cause a signal loss.

@Ari
It shows that it was on my flight history, not sure why nothing happened.

Why didn’t you hit the return-to-home button on the controller?

Yeah, I’ve had some close calls before; the return-to-home should auto activate on signal loss. I’m not sure what happened here; maybe it was a bad GPS lock or running low on batteries. Both seem likely.

Well, the controller, and especially the return-to-home button, should work even without the phone.

Weird! Even without the controller, the drone should return home.

Also, set it to return home if it loses connection.

Cabo…?
