I recently traded into a Phantom 4 model number WM330A. I was damaged dew to previous owners kid go ahold of it and pulled the landing gear off, damaging the landing gear and the middle shell. I’m pretty handy and got a good trade so I picked it up. Got onto eBay and bought a middle shell and landing gear(bought from 2 separate dealers) that said they were new genuine products for a Phantom 4, not a 4pro or adv, when I got everything in the middle shell looks right, but during tear down, I pulled out the landing gear I was sent and they appear to be wrong and they didn’t include the wires I need to replace going to the landing gear either. So in the end, was I sent the wrong item, or do I have the model of my drone wrong?
I picked up a P4 last winter too but haven’t opened it up yet. Mine’s also having issues calibrating the compass, and when I took the gimbal off to peek inside, I noticed some moisture scaling on the circuits. I wasn’t totally sure what you were asking since the pics didn’t explain much, but for what you’re describing, parts should be swappable between most of the P4 models. Major differences were usually in the camera, ESC, and motors.
What’s really helped me over the years is watching teardown or shell swap videos on YouTube—get a few that are at least 30–45 minutes, well-lit, and ideally with bookmarks in the description. Try to set up your workspace like theirs, with a big screen if you’ve got one. Those videos usually mention the right screwdrivers, spudgers, and tools too. I used to be a tech so I’ve built up my kit, but patience is key. Also, don’t overdo the caffeine beforehand—shaky hands will make it harder. Good luck!
@Dana
Yeah, sorry—my post was kind of a mess. I’ve watched a bunch of teardown videos and I’ve got experience with tech repairs and RC cars/trucks, so tools aren’t an issue. I’m just new to drones, and I don’t know if I’ve ID’d this model right. Everything I’ve read points to it being a regular Phantom 4, but the landing gear I bought (listed as fitting a standard P4) doesn’t even come close to lining up. So now I’m not sure if I got the wrong part or if I’ve misidentified the drone.
@Ali
Totally understandable—it happens a lot with this stuff. I’ve got the WM330A model too. The body shapes and leg mounts can be different across versions even if they look super similar.
If I ever end up diving into RC trucks, I’ll definitely hit you up. I just got a heli earlier this year and man, it’s a whole different beast. Not sure why I waited until middle age to start expensive hobbies again, lol. It’s wild how much things have improved!
EDIT – ‘Ghille’ in your name… game sniper or military?
@Dana
I’d be happy to help with anything RC—I’ve mostly been into rock crawlers and building up 1:10 rigs. No heli experience yet though. This drone is my first air-based toy.
And thanks for confirming, WM330A is the standard Phantom 4, not Pro or Advanced, right?
@Ali
Haha, don’t tempt me—I’ve already got more drones than I know what to do with. Only started flying seriously about a year ago. From what I’ve read, helicopters are their own thing—rotor setups are way different.
Here’s the breakdown on Phantom 4 models by number:
WM330A – Phantom 4
WM331A – Phantom 4 Pro
WM331S – Phantom 4 Pro V2
WM332A – Phantom 4 Advanced
Controller compatibility’s also its own rabbit hole.

@Dana
Here’s a little teaser pic I took about a year and a half ago, the tow rig and the crawler on the rear have both changed since this pic
@Ali
Nice! You’re not helping me resist the urge to buy more stuff, lol.
DM me if you’re still unsure about your model. I ordered both Pro and standard shells, but mine turned out to just be a P4. If you happen to need Pro shells, I’ve got them—$35 plus shipping.
Edit: Actually never mind, sounds like you’ve got the same model I do. Pretty sure they sent you the wrong landing gear.
