Thinking about buying an Exo X7? Read this first!

I did my homework before buying the Exo X7 drone. I checked reviews on different sites and forums, but didn’t find anything negative. Their whole pitch is ‘same tech as DJI, but 25% cheaper.’ Let me just say, that’s not true. The footage they use in their ads is not what I’m seeing from my drone. The photos and videos are barely decent, but zoom in, and it’s super pixelated. It claims 4K video, but it looks worse than a low-budget phone camera. It’s basically a rebranded cheap drone marked up by $150. Save yourself the trouble and get a DJI Mini instead.

I have the EXO Blackhawk Pro, and I think it’s a solid drone for the price. It’s well-built, and the video quality is genuinely 4K. Maybe it’s just a settings issue?

Wake up, dude. That Blackhawk is just a Hubsan Zino with a different label slapped on it.

@Lyric
True, but it does have a 4.5-mile range and 43-minute battery life. Plus, the batteries can charge your phone or charge all at once. I’ve been thinking about getting one, but I haven’t seen much footage of it. My X7 Ranger can’t even keep video stable at a quarter-mile.

@Corey
You’d be better off buying the Hubsan Zino Pro Plus—it’s the same drone, but cheaper.

Thanks, I think I’m done with Exo though.

That link says it’s out of stock now.

The Hubsan Zino Pro Plus is way better than the Cinemaster 2! Took it out a mile, but it got choppy and laggy.

@Corey
I can usually get about a half-mile range with my Ranger X7, but only if the weather is perfect, clear skies, and good line of sight. I live in the Arizona desert, so open spaces help. Still, it drops connection a lot. Since I got my 107 license and started doing aerial photography, I had to upgrade. The Blackhawk 2 Pro has been way more reliable so far.

@Corey
Mine cut out after half a mile, and customer support didn’t seem to care.

Yeah, I’m switching to DJI.

@Lyric
Ever noticed how similar the Hubsan Zino looks to the Blackhawk?

@Lyric
Exactly! It’s a total rip-off. Even the labels are almost identical. They just rebrand it and mark it up. It’s disappointing—thought they’d be different.

@Lyric
Hubsan and EXO teamed up, so they’re basically the same thing now.

Nope, that’s not what’s going on. Exo buys old Chinese drones and rebrands them. Hubsan has been around long enough because there are always people willing to buy. Same goes for Exo.

@Lyric
They actually make improvements to the design. It’s not just rebranding. Exo adds new features and better software, making it different and better than the original design. Plus, they’ve got good customer service and offer warranties. Their servers are based in the US, so your data is safe.

@Kai
Did they pay you to say that?

Definitely sounds like they did! Probably on their payroll.

@Kai
Have you actually tried dealing with them when there’s a problem? My experience was the complete opposite, worst customer service I’ve ever dealt with.
