Just wanted to give a heads-up to anyone planning to buy the new Mavic 4…
When the Mavic 3 first came out, DJI said it would get SDK support—and it still hasn’t to this day. I’m still hoping, but not holding my breath.
Also, when it first launched, the drone had a bunch of bugs, especially with obstacle avoidance. It took them a while to fix everything.
And before someone says SDK is only for enterprise models—why did older drones like the Phantom series, Mavic Pro, Mavic 2, Mini 3 Pro, and Mini 4 Pro all get it then?
So yeah, make sure the drone already has what you need and that it actually works before buying. Wait for honest reviews from real users—not the sponsored ones. And don’t fall for marketing promises.
I own the original Mavic 3, and yeah, it’s a solid drone, but the lack of SDK support still feels like a slap in the face. For something that expensive, it shouldn’t be missing important tools.
Still not sure who asked for that 360 roll feature… how often are people even going to use that? I also really doubt the Mavic 4 is getting SDK support. The only reason the Mini 3 Pro has it is because they never made an enterprise version of it.
@Vick
Yeah, the 360 roll is more of a cool gimmick for video effects. As long as it doesn’t make the gimbal more fragile, it’s whatever.
But seriously, it makes no sense that the cheaper Mini 3 Pro has more software features than the Mavic 3. And don’t forget—the Mavic 3 Cine and Cine Pro are the only ones that shoot ProRes, and they cost more than the Mavic 3 Enterprise, but still no SDK. It’s wild. I honestly feel like I got ripped off. I know some folks don’t care, and that’s fine—but I wouldn’t trust any promises they make from now on.
They also promised that tracking beacon thing for the Air 3S and then just canceled it. That was one of the reasons I picked it over the Mini 4 Pro, and then they basically went, ‘Oops, never mind!’

Yeah, I heard someone say that beacon might come out with the Mavic 4. But at this point, who knows… I’ll believe it when I see it.
