Thinking of getting the Air 3S just for wind… worth it?

I live near the coast and it’s windy almost all the time. I have the Mini 4 Pro right now and I always get high wind warnings when I try to fly it. It can stay in the air, but it really struggles.

I’ve been thinking about getting the Air 3S just to handle wind better. I don’t really need the telephoto lens, and I don’t care much about the vertical shooting on the M4P.

What do you all think? Would it be a smart upgrade just for wind resistance?
Thanks!

I’m still using my Air 2 and it handles wind great. I was actually thinking about getting a Mini 4 to go with it.

Same here, my Air 2 has no trouble in strong winds—I’ve flown in gusts over 30 mph and it holds steady. My Neo freaks out in the same weather though.

My Air 2 and Air 3 both throw up warnings when it gets gusty, but they stay solid in place and don’t shake. Love how stable they are.

It makes a big difference. I had the same issues before and the Air 3S handles wind way better than the Mini 4 Pro. That said, the M4P is still a great drone. I ended up really liking the telephoto too. Let us know if you end up using DJI Care.

There’s nothing wrong with that reason. The Mini 4 Pro is awesome when you need something small or quiet—like for travel or certain locations—but if wind is your main issue, the Air 3S is a better call.

I have both, and if I’m flying near home, I grab the Air 3S. If I’m going on a trip and packing light, I take the Mini.

I’ve got both too. The Mini 4 Pro is super quiet and great in calm spots, but when it gets windy the Air 3S is my go-to. It doesn’t complain, just flies.

It can hold position in stronger wind than the specs say, but keep in mind that RTH can still be affected a lot depending on conditions. There’s definitely a safety buffer built into how it flies.

I still use my Air 2S with the big sensor mostly because it stays steady in windy weather.

It’s solid in the wind. No issues here.

Air 3S is way better in wind and sudden gusts than the Mini line.

I made the exact same move. I love how small the M4P is, but it didn’t do well with coastal wind. I picked up the Air 3S and haven’t looked back—it’s super stable out there.

Funny thing is, I didn’t think I’d care about the telephoto, but now I use it a lot more than I expected.

My Air 2S is rock solid in 20+ mph winds. The difference between the Mini and Air drones in wind is huge. Between Air 2S and Air 3, the gap isn’t as big but both are way ahead of the Mini.
