I’ve been flying DJI drones for a while now. Started with the original Air and have been using the Air 2S most recently. Now I’m looking to upgrade, but I’m torn between the Air 3S and the Mini 4 Pro.
I mostly film nature scenes and landscapes, but I also like capturing action shots—friends mountain biking, boating, kayaking, that kind of thing. The Air 3S has LiDAR for obstacle avoidance, but aside from that, both drones seem pretty similar in specs. The Mini 4 Pro is tempting because of the lower price and how compact it is.
For those who’ve flown either (or both), which one would you pick? Is the Air 3S worth it—assuming I can even get one through customs—or should I go with the Mini 4 Pro?
It’s my first drone, and I love it. From what I’ve seen in reviews and my own experience, it’s a much better choice than the Mini 4 Pro—unless budget is a concern.
One huge advantage is wind resistance. It’s just way more stable.
I’m stuck on the same decision. Debating between the Mini 4 Pro, Mavic 3 Pro, and the 3S. My plan is to grab the Mini 4 Pro now, then wait until April to see what the Mavic 4 Pro looks like. If it’s worth it, I’ll upgrade, and if not, I’ll just pick up a discounted Mavic 3 Pro since a bunch of people will be selling theirs for the new model.
How it fits with your gear is super important. The Mini 4 Pro is still solid in wind and has a great camera. Portability can make a huge difference depending on how you travel.
If you can get your hands on one, go with the Air 3S. Just keep in mind that since it’s over 250g, you might run into drone pilot certification requirements and get questioned when flying internationally.
