Trying to choose my first drone… Mini 4K or Mini 3?

Hi folks,

I’m thinking of getting my very first drone and could use some help. I’ve always been into drones but never actually owned one. My budget is around 450 euros since I’m just starting out.

Right now, I’m deciding between the Mini 4K and the Mini 3. I did think about the Neo but dropped it since I’m not into the FPV stuff.

What matters most to me is battery life. I mostly want to fly around and enjoy the view — recording video isn’t a big deal for me right now.

Here’s what I’m comparing:

  • Mini 4K with the Fly More pack gives about 31–32 minutes of battery time according to DJI, but real users say it’s more like 18–25. It does come with 3 batteries though.
  • Mini 3 (just the basic one, no Fly More) is said to last around 38 minutes, and from what I’ve read, the real-life difference isn’t too far off.

I’m okay with shorter flights if it means I can go a bit farther, not just 50 meters — something that actually feels like exploring.

Since I’m not picky about camera stuff, what would you say is the better pick for me?

Thanks in advance for the help!

The Mini 5 is dropping soon so Mini 4 prices will probably go down fast.

I’ve got some free time now during summer, so if I go for one, I’ll likely grab it soon. If I really enjoy flying, I might look into getting the Mini 5 later on if it feels worth it.

@Holt
Yeah, that makes sense.

If you’re not worried about camera quality, then focus more on flight time and range. That’ll give you more fun exploring without stress.

Exactly. Like I said, the camera isn’t my main thing — I’m just after good battery life and being able to fly farther.

I’d say go with the Mini 4 Pro — check out my posts to see what I’ve done with it as a beginner lol.

I think you might’ve missed what I said — I’m not trying to spend that much right now.
