I’m looking for a good controller and found a lot of used DJI controllers online. I know DJI controllers have great range, so I was wondering… can I use a DJI controller like the RC-N1 (from the DJI Mini 2) for my homemade RC plane? If yes, how would I set that up?
I haven’t heard of anyone reverse engineering the communication between a DJI transmitter and aircraft for custom projects. It would be much easier to get a dedicated RC transmitter.

Fair point, but I like the idea of using a DJI controller because of the range compared to other controllers in the same price range.
The closest option would be using a DJI 04/03 air unit with FPV goggles and the DJI Controller 3. Standard controllers like the RC-N1 don’t work with those systems.

Would I be able to reprogram the controller? I need it to control 4 servos.
@Eli
I’m not sure about that. You might have better luck asking in FPV forums. Usually, the air unit connects to a flight controller, which then controls the servos and motors.
