So I saw the pictures of the new DJI Flip drone, and I gotta say… it looks kind of weird to me. The way it folds up, it almost looks like a wheelchair or something. Not sure how I feel about it. What do you all think?
It looks like something out of the 1890s, maybe a prototype for those rolling drones from sci-fi movies.

Totally agree, it feels like it belongs in Wild Wild West.

Yep, exactly my first thought too.

I honestly thought it was a rolling drone with one giant wheel at first.
I’d rather have a unique design like this than just another Mavic clone. At least they’re trying something different.
It kind of reminds me of a wheelchair. Not sure if that’s good or bad.
Wait, are people upset about the picture on the box or how it looks when it’s folded? I’m confused.

It’s both, really. People are talking about the folded look and the box design.
@Mars
Weird take. I think the box looks fine, and I don’t really care how it looks folded up in storage.

Right? What matters is the photos and videos it takes, not how it looks sitting in the case.

Exactly. Even if it looked like a trash can lid, if it flies longer and better, people will still buy it.
@Ari
Thanks a lot… now I’ve got that trash can lid song stuck in my head.
Why are people so focused on how it looks? Shouldn’t the features and performance matter more?

Looks can impact functionality too. For example, this design might not be great for wind resistance.

People like good-looking things. It’s not just about function; design matters too. A bad design can hurt sales.
A sub-250g drone with prop guards is actually a big deal.

Maybe this will be like the Neo but better?
Honestly, I think it looks fine. Different isn’t always bad.
I don’t even care how it looks. Just make it available in the US already!
