What ND filter should I use for bright sunny days in Southern California?

Hey folks,

I’m shooting mostly in Southern California where it’s super sunny most of the time. Just wondering what ND filter you’d recommend for that kind of light?

Thanks!

I use an ND64 a lot. It’s a good starting point for sunny days. If it feels too dark, I just swap down to a 32 or even 16 depending on how things look through the camera.

Try using an ND calculator. It really depends on what kind of settings you’re shooting with, and without that info no one can give you a perfect answer.

We kinda need to know what drone or camera you’re using. ND filters are just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to exposure.

Totally depends on the type of shot you’re trying to get.

I’d go with ND32 or ND64 for bright days like that.
