What phones should you avoid for flying drones?

Don’t get a Motorola if you’re planning to fly a drone. Most of the apps don’t even work on it.

Motorola? That’s surprising.

DJI apps are mainly made for iOS. You can grab an older iPhone for $200-$300 and use it just for flying, recording, and editing.

DJI drones always seem to work better with iPhones. The iOS app is smoother than the Android version—feels like DJI put more effort into it.

iPhone Pro Max works great.

I use an iPhone 13 just for flying. No complaints.

If you can afford it, try an iPad Mini. I 3D printed a small bracket to mount it on the controller—way better screen size for flying.

I’ve used both a Samsung Galaxy S23 and a Google Pixel 9, and they worked fine. My buddy flies with one of those cheap Samsung Walmart phones with no issues either. I think it really depends on what you’re comfortable with since they include cables for pretty much any phone.

Pro Max all the way.

Still holding onto that Motorola Razr, huh?
