I’ve got a Mini 3 (not the Pro) and I’m trying to figure out the best SD card for recording in 4K 30fps. Right now, I’m using a SanDisk Extreme (A2, V30, U3), which is supposed to be one of the best, but I still get occasional frame skips.
I was thinking about upgrading to the Extreme Pro, but honestly, that feels like overkill for a drone.
I’ve had frame skipping issues on my 4K footage too (using a Samsung Pro card). I thought it was the card at first, but when I gave the file to my friend to check on his PC, it looked even worse!
He converted the footage to 1080p, and suddenly it played perfectly. Turns out my computer just wasn’t handling 4K well.
Maybe check if your PC is struggling with playback?

That’s a good point… I originally played it on my older MacBook, but I’ll test it on my main PC and see if it makes a difference.
Might’ve just solved my issue. I’ll update once I check!
Yeah, give it a shot! Also, try converting the video to 1080p and see if that helps. That’s what confirmed it for me—my 4K videos were a mess, but the 1080p version played fine everywhere.
I honestly thought all my footage was ruined at first! I even suspected my drone or my SD card was defective, but it was just my PC struggling.

I’ve always used SanDisk Extremes and never had any problems.
I wonder if the cold weather where I fly is affecting the card’s performance. It’s about 30°F where I’m flying, probably even colder up in the air. Maybe that’s slowing down write speeds?
