I just got my first DJI drone, the Mavic 3 Classic. I’ve flown other drones before, but the features on this one are incredible! Does anyone have recommendations for any software or programs to get the most out of it? Thanks!
DJI hasn’t released the SDK yet for the Mavic 3 series, so third-party apps aren’t working with it for now.
When they do, I recommend:
- Maven: Adds waypoint missions and flight automation.
- Litchi: Similar to Maven but not as stable in my experience.
- Air Control: For weather and airspace info.
- FAA B4Ufly: For checking official airspace in the U.S.
For video editing, I suggest DaVinci Resolve. The free version is powerful and doesn’t have a watermark. If you need even more features, the full version is $295. Here’s a comparison of the free vs. paid versions.
Hope this helps!

I’ve heard of SDKs, but what exactly can you do with the drone once it’s released? Is it for integrating with third-party apps? And does that mean those apps control the drone?
Also, is there a big difference between Air Control and the B4Ufly app? I’ve used B4Ufly with my other drones and didn’t think to try Air Control.

You’re welcome! The SDK lets third-party developers create apps for the drone, so you can fly it through those apps, either manually or using automated systems.
Here’s a playlist of tutorials for the Maven app, and this one is for Litchi.
B4Ufly mainly handles airspace, while Air Control covers both airspace and weather. I use both depending on the situation.
I use DaVinci Resolve for video editing—it’s great, and the stabilization tool is awesome. For photos, I use Luminance HDR and Darktable.

Thanks! I’ve already spent an hour looking into DaVinci, so I’ll check out the others too.
The free version of DaVinci Resolve works great for me.
We did a poll with other drone users, and Adobe Premiere Pro was the most popular, followed by DaVinci Resolve. For Mac users, iMovie is also a good free option.

I use Dronelink, but I’m no pro.
