What type of drone user are you?

I’ve just started my drone hobby with DJI NEO, and I noticed there are different types of drone users, like FPV sport, photographer, cruising, etc. I’m curious about your main/mix drone usage and what drone you use.

I’m a photographer. I have a Mini 3 Pro for fun and stealth flying if I need it. I use it for photo and video of places I can’t reach from the ground.

I also have a Mavic 3E for long-range flying. It has a great 4/3rds 20 MP sensor for stunning photos and videos, plus a mechanical shutter to avoid rolling shutter effects. I bought it for mapping and surveying, and it comes with an RTK module for precision mapping and a 7X lens for telephoto shots.

Then there’s my Matrice M30. It can fly in rain and snow, used by police and fire departments for rescue and safety. It’s also self-heating for cold weather, and even the cameras have heaters for damp weather. It has dual RTK modules for inspections in tricky environments like power stations or antennas.

The NEO looks like fun and might be great for indoor flying in places like factories or abandoned buildings.

Yes, if you want to fly quietly and high, you can use the M3P. It’s small and quiet, so it doesn’t attract attention. My bigger drones also have ‘stealth’ modes for surveillance, which turn off the marker lights. But they’re much noisier.

@Remy
That’s awesome thanks for sharing! The NEO is definitely beginner-friendly, easy to carry, and fun to fly. Worth every dollar for what it offers.

What are you using your NEO for right now? What are your future plans with it? That might help you figure out what drone to get next.

I’m just starting with leisure cruising and some beginner speed runs. I’m curious how others use their drones and what drones you all fly.

I have the Mini 4 Pro, which is a great all-around drone for casual flyers. It’s affordable, has a good camera, nice stabilization, and decent speed. I started with the Mini and then upgraded to the Air2, and now the Mini 4 Pro.

I used to fly FPV about 10 years ago, but now I enjoy taking photos and just cruising around with my Mini 4 Pro. I like doing waypoint missions and just flying for fun.

Thanks for sharing! I didn’t know FPV was around 10 years ago!

For work, I mainly use drones for architectural 3D modeling, inspections, construction, and historic preservation.

But for fun, I love flying FPV for cinematic shots. Acro is fun too, but it seems like only other drone pilots appreciate it. Flying through arenas or convention centers is a blast, and it makes beautiful videos that everyone (except my wife) enjoys! The NEO is perfect for this because it’s more accessible than building and flying cinewhoops.

@FlightFocusFinn
Love your ideas! I’ll probably try flying indoors too. The tricky part for me is understanding the rules though.

Just hobby photos and videos for fun. I have a Mini 2 SE.

I have a Mini 2 for photos, some tinywhoops for fun, and a NEO for a bit of everything. I also have the N3 goggles and the motion controller. I flew it once with the controller, and it was super fun.

I also got a Mini 3 Pro for photos and some analog tinywhoops for acro in the garden. I’m thinking about getting the NEO motion fly more package for a light cinematic FPV experience. Is it worth it?

@dillisonmicheal
It’s almost too expensive. I’ve only flown it once with the motion controller, but it was a neat experience. In wide-open space, it felt slow, but around trees and objects, it was really fun and unique. The range was better than my tiny whoops, and the quality of DJI’s gear is always great. I got mine piece by piece, and I paid under $300 since the NEO was a gift. If I were spending $600, I might look for a used Avata instead. Hope that helps!

I make large maps by stitching photos together so I can mark the spots where I lay my fiber optic cables.

This sounds awesome!

I got a cheap HS600D to see if I liked this new hobby. I loved it so much that I returned it after two weeks and ordered the much more capable DJI Air 3S!

Started my drone hobby with the Mini 3 Pro.
