I’m looking for a drone mainly for personal use when I travel, nothing professional. I looked into the Neo, but it seems the range might be a bit short for what I need. The DJI Mini 4 Pro seems perfect, but as a first-time buyer, I’m not sure if it’s worth the price at around £979. Also, I don’t want to get a license to fly it.
You don’t need a license for most DJI drones if you’re just flying for fun. For those over 250g, you’ll just need to register them.

Thanks! If I get the Fly More combo, do I still need to swap batteries? I see Amazon says 93 minutes of flight time, but DJI says 31 minutes per battery. Also, can any model be upgraded to FPV, or does it need to be a specific FPV drone?

Batteries last about 25-30 minutes each, so you’ll need to swap them to get that total flight time. As for FPV, you need specific drones like the Neo for that.

Thanks! Last question, is there a version of the Mini 4K that supports the DJI RC2 (the one with the built-in screen)?

No, the Mini 4K only supports the RC-N1 and RC-N1C controllers. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, the Mini 3 supports the RC with the built-in screen. Also, as a beginner, you should get DJI Care or Care Refresh because you’re probably going to crash, and the care plan will save you money.

In Europe, you still need to register them and do a free course.
You can set most DJI drones to FPV mode by adjusting the gimbal so the horizon shifts with the drone’s movements, and you can pair it with compatible goggles. But FPV drones like the Avata 2 are much better for that experience.
I just bought a Mini 4 Pro as my first drone, and it’s amazing! Here’s some test footage: https://youtu.be/Jzjae1mjWvg?si=JukEjR8cYihVugGq

Agreed, it’s harder to crash with the obstacle detection it has.
I’d recommend buying a used drone for your first one. Most of us crash our first drone, so it’s better to save the big purchase for your second one.
I bought the Mini 4 Pro Fly More as my first drone, and it’s awesome. I also got an Avata 2, which is really fun, though I’m still working on manual mode with the sticks.

The Mini 4K sounds perfect for what you’re looking for. While the Neo is great, the Mini 4K has better flight time, a better camera, and more stability. It’s cheaper than the Mini 4 Pro but still good.

I got the Mini 4K Fly More package as my first drone, and I love it. The price and value are great!

I’m leaning towards the Mini 4K now. I compared it to the Mini 3 on DJI’s site, and they look pretty similar, but the Mini 3 has vertical shooting and supports the DJI RC controller with the built-in screen. Does the Mini 4K have vertical shooting too?

I’m not sure what ‘vertical shooting’ means exactly. I picked the Mini 4K because it was a bit cheaper and newer, so maybe it will have longer support. Either way, both are great options for a starter drone.

With the RC-N3 in the £299 Fly More Combo, the Neo’s range is up to 10km, though realistically, it’s more like 2km. How far do you need it to fly? Also, if you’re in the UK, you’ll need to register as a drone operator, but you don’t need to take the flyer ID exam for personal use if it’s under 250g.

I think the Air 3 is the best option overall.

The Mini drones are exactly what you’re looking for. If you can afford it, get the RC with the built-in screen and Care Refresh.

The Mini series won’t let you down!
