Where can I fly my DJI Neo around York?

I’m looking for good spots in York to fly my DJI Neo. Would an open area like the Racecourse be ideal? Or is flying around landmarks like the Minster or stadium allowed?

If you’re just starting out, I recommend the Racecourse. There’s plenty of open space, and it’s a safe spot for learning.

I agree. The Racecourse is great for beginners, but make sure to check the drone flying rules for the area.

Flying near the Minster might be tricky because of no-fly zones, but the riverside has decent spots if you’re careful.

Thanks, I’ll look into the riverside. Do you know if there are maps for no-fly zones in York?

@Zed
You can use apps like Drone Assist. They show restricted zones and give advice on safe flying.

For the stadium, it’s usually busy, so I wouldn’t recommend it unless there’s no event happening. Open parks are better.

Makes sense. Do you have a favorite park for flying?

@Zed
Rowntree Park is nice, but it can get crowded. Early mornings are best.

I’ve flown from the city walls near the river before. The views of the Minster are amazing, but it’s not for beginners.

That sounds incredible. Were there any challenges flying there?

@Zed
It can get windy, and there are lots of people, so you need steady control and situational awareness.
