Which drones actually work with Android phones?

I’ve been wanting a drone for a while and hoped to use my Android phone as the controller and monitor. Another screen isn’t an option for me right now, so the phone is my only choice. I’m a beginner and picked up a DJI Neo because it seemed like a good fit. The box says it’s Android compatible, and everything I found online suggested it would work with my phone (Moto Edge).

Unfortunately, it turns out it’s not compatible with my specific phone. I’d have to pay a restocking fee to return it, which makes this situation even more frustrating. Even if I bought the separate controller, the app still wouldn’t work on my phone, so I’m at a loss.

Are there any drones that are truly compatible with Android phones, or is there a workaround for this kind of issue? I’d like to find another drone but want to make sure it’ll work before buying it. Any advice would be appreciated!

Are you unable to download the DJI Fly app? That’s the main way to connect the drone to your phone.

What year is your Moto Edge? Does it support Android 8.1 or higher? Not trying to question your tech knowledge, but sometimes compatibility issues come down to the phone’s software version. If the Neo isn’t working, you could look at alternatives like the HoverAir, which competes with the Neo.
