Which remote is better for the Air 3S?

I currently have an Air 3, but I’m planning to upgrade to the Air 3S along with a 4G dongle. I’m not sure which remote to choose. Right now, I’m using the screenless remote, and that combo is cheaper, but I’ve heard that the new remote for the Air 3S has a smaller battery. Some people say it needs recharging after just 3 flights.

I’m using an old Android phone as my screen, and it works fine. Does the RC 2 remote have better battery life, and what are the pros and cons other than not having to mount a phone every time? Is the signal any better? If I use it with the 4G dongle, I’ll need to set up a hotspot—does that work well? I’m also wondering if I can use the Air 3’s screenless remote with the 3S. It might be better for me, but when I sell the Air 3, I’ll still need to find a remote.

I have both the RC 2 and the screenless remote. I actually prefer the screenless one because my iPhone screen is better and more responsive. It’s a bit more hassle with cables, but I find myself using it more than the RC 2 anyway.

Is there any difference in signal strength? I’ve heard the screenless remote might have a better signal.

I’m not sure—I haven’t tested the range thoroughly. But with the RC N3, I flew 7 km away yesterday and still had full signal.

@Charlie
I know flying that far isn’t technically legal, but I was up in the mountains, so I didn’t really worry about it. :wink:
