Which should I get? DJI Mic 2 or DJI Mic Mini?

I don’t currently have a wireless mic for my camera system, and I’m looking to get my first one. Would you recommend the DJI Mic 2 or the DJI Mic Mini?

The Mic 2 seems great because of the 32-bit float, which would help prevent clipping during shoots. But the Mic Mini is more affordable, smaller, and seems like a solid option for its price.

I’ll be using the mic for interviews, ASMR, unboxings, and food content. What do you think? I’d love to hear your suggestions!

I’m following this too! My concern is whether the Mini has a noticeable drop in audio quality. The comparison on the DJI website doesn’t make it very clear.

I’d say go with the Mini—it’s more discreet.

If you’re working with clients or doing professional projects, get the Mic 2. You can even attach a lavalier mic to it for interviews and other setups where you need it hidden.

For YouTube or social media content, the Mini is probably fine since most viewers won’t care if they see the mic. That said, you can use the Mic 2 for personal content too.

The Mini is a good choice for creators who want an upgrade without breaking the bank, but the Mic 2 is better overall, especially with the 32-bit float for professional use.

I own the Mic 2 combo and just ordered a Mini transmitter for when I need something smaller. I haven’t tested the Mini yet, but reviews suggest the audio quality is pretty similar.

If I could start over, I’d probably get the Mini combo first and then add a Mic 2 transmitter for the 32-bit float when needed.

Right now, the Mini and Mic 2 aren’t compatible with each other’s receivers, but I’m hoping DJI updates this in the future. Fun fact: I saw a YouTuber manage to connect both the Mic 2 and Mini directly to the Pocket 3 without needing the receiver.

@Joss
So does that mean the Mic 2 and Mini can work with the same receiver?

As far as I know, no. The Mic Mini doesn’t currently work with the Mic 2 receiver, and the Mic 2 doesn’t connect to the Mini’s receiver.

I’m really hoping DJI releases an update to allow them to work together. What I mentioned earlier with the Pocket 3 was a unique case because the Pocket 3 doesn’t require a receiver to connect.
