Why is DJI calling them Matrice 4T and 4E when they look like the next Mavics?

Does anyone know why DJI decided to rename these drones Matrice instead of keeping them as part of the Mavic series? It feels like they’re just upgraded Mavics. I’m guessing they’re splitting the consumer and enterprise lines, but maybe there’s more to it?

I’m assuming it’s so the Mavic name stays with consumer drones, and Matrice becomes the go-to name for enterprise drones. Still, I’d love to hear if anyone knows the full story behind the switch.

That sounds about right. Maybe the Mavic 4 will end up with a different design altogether. Some of the leaks seem to hint at that.

If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s no longer just a leak. It’s up on their website, and you can pre-order now.

I think they’re referring to the actual Mavic 4 and 4 Pro, not the Matrice or Enterprise versions. Leaks show the Mavic 4 has its camera gimbal pushed forward and outside the main body—it looks kinda strange but also interesting.

Yeah, the Mavic 4 is still just leaks at this point. By the way, I’ve already reserved my 4E.

@Noor
Looking forward to hearing how it performs! Both the 4E and 4T sound cool, but I just placed my order for the 30T.

Do you know if the 4T will work fully with Pix4D for thermal mapping? I recently used the 30T for a project, but I had to convert the thermal images with another program to make them usable in Pix4D.

@Brady
What program did you use?
