Why the DJI Ban from Congress Under NDAA Was No Surprise to The LiDAR PROs Team

Hey!

The recent ban on DJI drones by Congress under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) wasn’t a surprise to the LiDAR PROs team.

This move stems from long-standing concerns about data security and national security risks associated with DJI drones.

For years, there have been worries that DJI drones could potentially leak sensitive information, posing a threat to national security.

The LiDAR PROs team, along with other industry experts, had anticipated such regulatory actions and had been preparing for this eventuality since 2017.

The legislative move to exclude DJI from the NDAA is part of a broader effort to safeguard sensitive data and reinforce national security.

This isn’t just about banning a brand but ensuring that the technology used in critical sectors is secure and reliable.

If you have any specific questions about how this ban might affect your work or need advice on alternative drone solutions, feel free to ask!

Sure. Before the NDAA ban, there were already restrictions on DJI products for use in sensitive areas. For example, the U.S. military had banned DJI drones in 2017 due to similar concerns. So they basically had it coming.
