Back to Drones After Selling My Phantom 4

Great combo with the Avata and Neo. The Motion 3 isn’t bad, but switching to manual mode with an FPV remote is a game changer.

Make sure to get some practice with the sticks on a simulator first!

@Blair
Do you have any links to good sims? Just started with the Avata 2/FPV, and I want to learn manual mode.

Velocidrone is great, and you can buy it directly from their website. Other options like Liftoff, FPV Logic, and Uncrashed are on Steam. Fair warning—the learning curve is steep, but once you get it, manual mode is amazing.

I actually like the Motion Stick a lot. For what I do, it feels more like flying a plane than a toy. Sure, for racing or freestyle, you’ll need manual mode, but for photos and casual flying, the stick works just fine.

Once I get the hang of the Motion 3, I’ll probably grab the RC 3 for manual mode eventually.

Looks like you’ve got enough gear to keep you busy for a while.

Yeah, but I hope I can find more time to fly. Here in SG, there are so many restrictions.

I was debating between these two as well. What are your initial thoughts so far?

For social media, the Neo is good enough. I got the Avata 2 mainly for the FPV experience and power. Since I bought the Fly More Combo for the Avata 2, I can use the Goggles 3 and Motion 3 with the Neo too. They work really well together.

@Dakota
Thanks for the info, bud!

Just a heads-up—the Goggles 3 in the Avata 2 combo alone costs more than the drone itself! The Neo Fly More Combo comes with a cheaper version of the headset.

@Dakota
Wow, that’s crazy!

@Dakota
Can you explain more? I’m considering the Avata too. I already have the Mini 4 Pro.

Both the Mini 4 Pro and Avata 2 are pretty close in terms of quality. The Neo is a different type of drone altogether, which is why I paired it with the Avata. If you want more immersion and don’t mind sacrificing some stability, go with the Avata 2.

@Dakota
Got it, thanks. Does the Avata have any self-stabilizing features?

The Avata 2 only has landing avoidance. No front, back, left, or right sensors for obstacle avoidance.

Quick question—have you ever considered going FPV outside of DJI?

I’ve thought about it. I watched a series where someone built their own FPV drone, and it looked amazing. I’ve built computers and modded consoles before, so it seemed like the next level of tinkering.

That said, I’m going with DJI because I want something I can fly right out of the box. I don’t have the time to invest in learning everything from scratch. The Avata feels accessible for beginners like me, and I just want to experience the thrill of flying.
