Bought a not working Mavic Pro… an hour later it’s flying

Picked up a Mavic Pro Flymore kit for £160. It was sold as broken. After an hour messing with the developer menu in DJI assistant and trying a fresh battery, it’s back in the air. Pretty happy with this. Now it’s sitting next to my Neo and my repaired Spark. Old drones still rock.

It just needed a battery to work?

Yeah, and some sensor calibration. I was relieved it wasn’t as complicated as fixing the Spark, which needed new ESCs and motors.

Crazy how some people just give up fixing things.

@Austin
Totally. Once, my girlfriend (now wife) thought her vacuum was dead. Turns out it just needed new filters and a belt. Cost me $20 to fix and worked like new.

@Austin
Probably someone who flips Amazon returns and doesn’t bother testing everything.

@Austin
Well, their loss is definitely our gain!

What a great find!

Drone batteries are so expensive. I have a Mini 2, and when my batteries died, I just bought an Air 3 combo instead of replacing the Mini 2 batteries.

Yeah, batteries are pricey. This one should last me a few more years, though.

How did they die? Did you not charge them often? I’m thinking of buying a Mini 2 battery, but I was shocked to see they cost around £50. How much did you pay?

@Ellis
Be careful. I’ve had two drones where the batteries died because I didn’t charge them enough. I’m done with DJI products now.

Congrats on the win!

Well done to you for figuring it out!

We have the same drone! Where did you find new batteries?

I got a third-party one from Amazon. It’s not as good as DJI’s originals, but it works fine. Got around 20 minutes of flight time even in strong winds.

@Bao
Good to know. One of my originals just died, so I might grab one of those.

I’ve had my Mavic Pro since 2016 and still love it. I know newer models are great, but I’ve never felt the need to upgrade. Sad to think DJI might stop supporting it one day.

Same here. I didn’t research much before buying, but the low bids tempted me. After my first flight, I can already tell the footage will work perfectly for my needs. Great little drone.

@Bao
It’s been the same for me. Bought it in 2016, and it’s been worth every penny. Enjoy flying it!
