Does anyone here have drone liability insurance? Who are you using, and what’s the cost? I got a quote for $256 a year, and I’m asking because I need coverage to get approval for filming at a state park in Arkansas. Appreciate any advice!
I use SkyWatch. It’s ‘pay-as-you-go,’ and costs vary based on where you’re flying and how much coverage you need. Rates range from $8-20 per hour, but they also offer monthly and annual plans. You can get up to $5 million in liability coverage.

I’m a SkyWatch user too. The app is pretty solid, but I wish there were options to schedule short sessions on the website. Also, it would be nice if I could save common ‘additional insured’ details, as it’s a pain to type them out repeatedly.
@Avery
Does SkyWatch work worldwide? What’s the pricing like? If I needed coverage for a few days, would it be cheaper to pay hourly or go with a monthly plan?

I’m not entirely sure about worldwide, but the rates are around $10-25 per hour. They do have monthly and annual plans. It really depends on how many hours you’ll be flying and where. You can check their website for more details.
Some is included for hobby use. You might want to call and check. The folks at AMA are pretty helpful. What we’re discussing here is liability insurance for drone work. They do offer additional policies through a well-known provider.
You mean American Model Association, right? I thought they only covered flights at approved AMA fields.
Nope, as long as you’re an AMA member, you’re covered. They offer additional insurance options too. I’m Part 107, and that’s how I cover my drones—plus, no extra cost for adding more aircraft!
AMA’s liability coverage isn’t just for AMA sites. It covers flights on private or public property as long as the pilot is following safety rules.
The policy covers up to $2.5 million per occurrence for bodily injury or property damage. A separate policy is available for events outside the US and Canada. Coverage doesn’t apply to business pursuits unless you’re teaching AMA members. There’s also $1,000 coverage for fire, theft, or vandalism with a $100 deductible.
