Got Some Amazing Drone Shots of the Aurora… What Do You Think?

Ah, got it. My Mini 3 is limited to 2 seconds, even with bracketing.

Yeah, the Mini 4 Pro has a trick where bracketing can push it beyond the 2-second limit.

That’s a great tip! I live in Yellowknife, and the lights were wild last night. Had my M4P ready but didn’t think to try that. Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately, mine still won’t go beyond 2 seconds.

Man, I’d love to capture the aurora too. I was out last night but missed it because of cloud cover. The Air 3 can do up to 8-second exposures!

I should have brought my Air 2s for the 8-second capability, but honestly, the aurora was bright enough that 5 seconds did the job.

@Vega
Nice! Your photos turned out beautifully!

I just tried some aurora shots with my Mini 4K, but it maxes out at 4 seconds. Good to hear the Air 3 does 8 seconds! I just grabbed one during the Prime Day sale for $1150 with the Fly More combo and better remote—tired of using my phone.

Wow, that must have been an amazing experience!

Absolutely stunning!

I always shoot in RAW too. It really makes a difference.

Great job! Those shots are incredible.

Awesome pictures! What time did the northern lights show up? I’m also in Ontario.

They started right after sunset, peaked around 10:15 PM, then again around 1:00 AM. They went on all night!

These are amazing, well done!

Beautiful photos! But isn’t flying a drone during the northern lights risky due to the electromagnetic activity? Did you have any issues?

Not a single problem. I had full connectivity and even linked to 23 satellites.

Just curious—did the lights look this vivid to the naked eye, or did the long exposure make it pop more?

Photos always enhance the colors a bit, but this storm was pretty intense. You could clearly see the greens and even some reds with your own eyes. The movements and patterns of the aurora were definitely visible.

@Vega
I ask because I’ve tried to see them in Norway and Iceland, but I’ve had no luck so far.

Yeah, sometimes the best views are right here if conditions are good. I’d love to see them in Iceland one day though.
