Same here… I’m getting the Mic 2
Yeah? Can we expect a functionality report when it arrives?

I have a Mic 2 that I use with DJI Fly on my phone (Google Pixel 8 Pro) and the DJI Neo. I have had no issues and the sound is quite excellent. I don’t even hear the buzzing of the drone which can be very close while filming.
@Jamie
That sounds promising…

LOVE the mic 2s
Do you have a samsung phone? If so it won’t connect for sound recording. The mic 2 won’t connect either.
The only benefit you’ll get with the mic 2 is the 32 bit float recording

Thank you for a legitimately helpful answer! Yeah, it truly seems the problem with the combination I need to achieve is the DJI Fly app. What you said further confirms everything I’m seeing in forums and comments across several sites. This sucks. I just want good sound when the Flip is acting like a robot cameraman without having to jump through hoops in post
@Hayes
For what it’s worth, what I do (with a neo rather than flip) is use the 32 bit float on the mic 2 (easy enough to sync up with a clap of the hands) and run it through a filter to take out the drone noise. Works a treat.
BTW if you return it to buy a mic 2, I wouldn’t bother buying the rx unit. You probably will never use it due to having the float facility.
What are more affordable alternatives, anyone?

Affordable isn’t really a concern for me, I just want something that doesn’t have a dongle that’ll break if I put my phone in my pocket, as well as something that doesn’t sound like trash when recording from the Flip via DJI Fly.
@Hayes
Unfortunately, it is for me. I hear you tho.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to sound like a dick. Just willing to pay a little more for a quality solution, because this one was $180 for failure
@Hayes
No you’re good. Thnx!
Is anyone setting the sensitivity for the device they are using? The mic receiver has a control to adjust the mic sensitivity up or down. Not complicated. I’ve been using these mics for a while and I’m very happy with the results.
@Harlow
It’s at zero gain, pickup isn’t the issue, the sound quality is a toilet paper roll and a piece of string

But have you adjusted the gain?

Yes, it did not make a difference in testing with the Flip when recording from the DJI Fly app, it simply made the bad audio louder or softer.
@Hayes
Sorry man, I’ve used them with the RC1 while flying, which records on the RC1 card then in editing sync up the audio with the drone footage. Works pretty well and the audio is fantastic.

I can only assume there’s some conflict with the audio processing in the DJI Fly app due to its attempt to avoid sound interference from the Flip (or Neo). I haven’t tried it with my RC2, but don’t care to, because that doesn’t fit my use case scenario. I just need it to work for recording audio (that doesn’t suck) when I record with the Flip. Seems like a pretty obvious thing that DJI should have ironed out by now
Have you tried these mics with other input devices, mirrorless cameras, etc? I imagine you are correct, there is probably something in the app that should have been caught before the release. Hang in there, you’ll get it solved!
@Harlow
I was going to test on my Insta360 X4, but I’m not spending $20 on the adapter at this point. I’m fairly upset, as this was pretty much the final piece of the puzzle in regards to getting usable audio on the awesome follow/spotlight footage from the Flip.
