Is the Avata 2 a good first drone for me?

I’m thinking about getting the Avata 2 with the Black Friday deal. I’ve always wanted to get into FPV drones. Any tips or advice from those who have it? Are there any reasons I should stay away from it? Thanks in advance!

Practice in the simulator. Practice in the simulator. Practice in the simulator. Practice in the simulator.

The Avata 2 was my first drone, and I still love it. It’s a lot of fun to learn on. You should probably pick up the FPV controller too since you’ll likely want to switch to it as you get better. I personally love the motion controller, though. Before you buy, think about whether you want a drone for flying around for fun or if you’re more into getting great shots. The Avata 2 is great for action shots, but it’s not the best if you want super smooth, cinematic videos like you’d get with a Mini 4 Pro or Air 3.

@Archer
Haha, are you reading my mind? It’s true, FPV drones are different from drones like the Air or Mini. The FPV drones are more immersive because they film forward, while the other drones are more about filming from high up.

Definitely go for it! It’s easy to learn and so much fun once you get the hang of it.

The Avata 2 is made for dynamic, immersive shots. It’s like flying through the scene, which is cool if you’re looking for that kind of footage. But drones like the Mini 4 Pro are better for getting shots from higher up, almost like a helicopter.

Thanks for the help, guys. What do you think about the price? Is this deal good?

I don’t think DJI offers the best prices directly on their site. You might want to check other places for better deals.

The refurbished kit is $959.

If you’re buying it because you love flying, then it’s a great choice. But if you’re mainly interested in photography, there are other options that might work better.

Will this work for real estate photography?

@Vale
It’ll be fine for most real estate shots, as long as you’re not dealing with super small spaces. For anything bigger, it’s a great choice!

Really? I’d personally go with an Air 3 for real estate. You can fly it higher and get more flexible shots, plus the telephoto lens is a bonus.

@Amar
You’re right, but unless you’re flying through tiny rooms, I think the Avata 2 would be fine for real estate. If you’re not comfortable with it, you could try it outside first.

I got the refurbished Avata 2 fly more combo for $959. I’ve ordered other refurbs from DJI, and they all seemed brand new. They also come with the same warranty and are eligible for Care Refresh.

I was hesitant about getting a refurbished drone. Do you still recommend it? If it’s like new, I might go for it.

I’ve got one, and I love it.

Consider getting the DJI Neo kit. It’s cheaper, and you’ll still get 90% of the fun.

Thanks for the info! Are the drones you mentioned FPV as well? What do you think about the price?
