I got the fly more combo for $900 and I’m super excited. Any tips for a first-time drone owner?
Start slow and low for the first 10 flights in an open area. Don’t try flying indoors yet. Watch some videos on settings and controls.

Actually, it’s better to go high and slow when you start. Less stuff to crash into up at 200-400 ft.
@Toryn
When you’re high, you don’t get a good feel for the drone’s direction. I learned on RC helicopters where orientation mattered more.

I also started with helicopters and agree with you there. But with drones, the screen and map help with direction. Better to get used to flying by looking at the screen.
@Toryn
For the first flights, don’t even use the camera. I train new pilots at work with Mini 2’s without connecting a phone. Start 50 feet up, slow mode, and practice flying in patterns like rectangles and figure eights. Add the camera later.
@Tyler
This sounds like something you’d do with kids, not serious drone training.
@Tyler
I did the same with my Mavic 2. I didn’t use the camera at first, just flew it low to get the feel. If you get disoriented, just let go of the controls and let it hover. Then figure out where it’s pointing before you try to move it again. Don’t drop the controller though, lol.
Fly it over deep water and through trees right away! #sarcasm
Get DJI CareRefresh and some filters. These videos will help:

Have fun
Looks like you’re all about safety first.
Know your area and the laws around flying. Maybe take a course if needed. Register your drone, respect no-fly zones, and practice on a simulator if you’re new. Stay away from trees and water for now.
Care Refresh.
Don’t put anything you value near the blades.

Speaking from experience here, so take this seriously.

Solid advice.

Definitely sounds like experience talking.
If you crash, don’t post a photo here. Just send it to DJI if you’ve got Care Refresh. And if your props get damaged, don’t ask us if you should replace them. Just do it.
