Obstacle avoidance isn’t reliable at higher speeds. My drone hit the ground once when I was biking. I’m more cautious with it now.

Let’s face it, the sensors aren’t perfect. GPS tech is still improving but has a way to go.
@Joss
How does GPS relate to autopilot here?
@Joss
Are you even on the right topic?
@Joss
Let’s stick to the drone talk, everyone.
The barometer is overly sensitive, and the ground’s texture doesn’t help. The slope and speed combo is just asking for trouble here.

Would setting Active Track to ‘behind’ mode improve things?
@Aspen
Definitely worth testing!
Looks like it lost lift. Try flying manually until the battery gets low and see if it happens again. Altitude could also play a part.

Altitude shouldn’t be an issue—I was only around 1200m. Battery was still at 85%.
Looks like the land slopes off beside the road. The drone may be trying to keep its height, but the ground level is changing too fast.
Terrain plus sensor issues. Setting a higher altitude might help next time.
Since people keep mentioning altitude and speed: I was only going around 30km/h at 1200m. I’m always in normal mode, so sensors should work. Battery was about 85%. If anyone needs more details, I can share the log file.
@Aspen
Yeah, this shouldn’t have happened at all.
@Aspen
Mate, 30km/h is fast for obstacle sensors to work effectively.
@Aspen
I’d send DJI the log file. To me, it looks like the motors cut out before it crashed.
@Aspen
Higher altitudes are tough for drones. They perform better at sea level where there’s more air to push against. It’s physics.
@Aspen
This happens often with DJI tracking. Surprisingly, it handles forests well but struggles on open roads!
It should have adjusted up, not drifted off like that.
