Why did Active Track mess up so badly and make my DJI Air 3 crash?

Active Track works at 12m/s slow and 20m/s fast, but in fast mode, obstacle avoidance is off.

Anyway to lock it at a slower speed so it stays on?

This is exactly why I don’t fully trust obstacle avoidance. I’ve crashed a few Skydios too.

Is this a known issue? Maybe do a test run to plan the route or use software like Litchi to automate it?

Looked cool till the crash!

Who was piloting?

I think the terrain was tricky. Can you pull the data out?

When I use Active Track, it tries to hold a specific height. If you start too low, it struggles to adjust on time.

What was your max altitude setting? Did it reach a limit?

Just going off memory here.

I hope DJI fixes this. Seems avoidable.

We’re sorry to hear about your drone. Active Track is currently optimized for cars and boats, not so much for bikes. Please fly carefully with non-listed objects.

Thanks for the info! The object was selected through the scan option, and motorcycles showed as valid. Location is in Greece: 40°30’19.1"N 22°00’22.4"E. I’ve applied for DJI Care Express under my Care Refresh program.

Guessing it was in sport mode for speed? If so, the sensors are off. Or the elevation change threw it off.

Nope, normal mode to keep sensors on.

Looked great until it didn’t!

A) You were too fast. B) Not high enough. C) Didn’t read the manual.

Can’t believe people downvote here, this seems accurate. Also, the road slope wasn’t even that steep. Speed seems to be the main issue.

@Dai
Agreed, thanks.

Anti-drone defenses maybe? There’s tech that disrupts signals. Could just look like an innocent cow but could be high-tech equipment.
